Burnt Clay ash Building Bricks

Burnt Clay ash Bricks are mainly made from cement, sand, fly ash, and water. Such bricks are competitive as compared to traditional clay bricks and offer largely indirect benefits like savings parturient costs and lower consumption of mortar. The rise within the number of thermal power plants has led to serious environmental problems like ash. The dumping of ash destroys the atmosphere and also destroys the fertility of the land. To beat these problems, it's been suggested to use ash combined with clay to manufacture various bricks.

1. General Quality

Bricks must be melded by hand or machine and made from a mix of suitable clay and ash. The utmost ratio of ash should be as per IS 2117: 1991. The ash employed for the manufacture of bricks should be of grade 1 or grade 2 as per IS 3812: 1981. Bricks should be evenly lit, free from cracks and imperfections should be like stones, black coring, and organic matter. The frog dimensions should be an equivalent for both modular and non-modular shape bricks. The frog should have dimensions of either 10 or 20 mm and hand bricks with a height of 90 or 70 mm.

2. Dimensions

Dimension of modular bricks should be as follows:

Length (mm)         Width (mm)       Height (mm)

 190                              90                               90

 190                              90                               40

Non-modular bricks of the subsequent size can also be used:

 230                              110                             70

 230                               110                            30

Following sizes of non-modular brick can also be wont to obtain proper bond agreement and modular dimension for brickwork:

 70                                   110                                70

 230                                  50                                 70

3. Tolerance

Randomly select 20 bricks from selected samples. These bricks are sequentially represented in 2A, 2B, and 2C on the successive surface. Measure the general length of the assembly with a sufficiently long steel tape or with the assistance of another inconsistent measure. If the measurement of bricks during a row isn't possible for a few reason; the sample are often divided into rows of 10 bricks. And therefore the measurement should be done to the closest millimetre. For modular-sized bricks (90 mm high) the width and height should be 1800 and 40 mm and length 3800 is 80 mm. For bricks 40 mm high, the peak should be 800, 40 mm, width, and therefore the length should be an equivalent as for bricks 90 mm high.

4. Physical properties

Bricks should have a minimum compressive strength for the category concerned when tested in accordance with IS 3495 (1): 1992. Water absorption of bricks (IS 3495 (2): 1992) shouldn't exceed 20% by weight. 15% for sophistication 12.5 and better classes when the bricks remain submerged in cold water for twenty-four hours. Efflorescence (IS 3495 (3): 1992) shouldn't exceed 'medium' for classes up to 12.5 and 'minor' for higher classes
